About IPSB - School of Integrative Psycho-Structural Bodywork
IPSB - School of Integrative Psycho-Structural Bodywork is a lesbian, woman owned business established in 1977. It offers holistic bodywork, energy work, and massage programs in Los Angeles with online lecture classes for a hybrid learning environment. The programs are tai chi based and focus on practitioner wellness and career longevity. The school is consistently described as excellent and highly recommended. Attending the intensive program is considered one of the best decisions, providing a welcoming, supportive, inspiring, and wholesome environment. The community is both supportive and inspiring, where friendships blossom and every day feels engaging. The program is fast-paced, hands-on, interactive, fun, and interesting, with a balance of structure and creativity. A unique and valuable part of the training is the daily incorporation of Tai Chi. This practice transforms body mechanics, teaching flow, balance, and intention to protect the practitioner’s body and prevent injury. It also brings more presence, ease, and grace into sessions and enriches daily life. The school teaches solid and effective body mechanics to save your body and avoid burnout, with many graduates reporting no burnout after decades in their massage career. The instructors and directors are passionate, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, experienced, kind, and genuinely caring. They make complex techniques approachable and help students grow as massage therapists and as people. Students feel included in classes and value the integration of both body and mind, or body mind coordination, in the methods taught. The school has an incredible reputation as a top notch resource and becomes a part of your life, with many considering it an incredible resource and sending friends there for over 20 years.
I used to drive 20-60 minutes to get back to my former town and go to the massage place I’ve gone to for..aww sheesh…almost 20 years now.
But I felt like that drive was really working against my relaxation.
After asking a few of the employees, I found that most of my favorites were IPSB alumni, and I figured that wasn’t a coincidence so of course I had to look them up. They are also almost 20 miles away, but the difference is the drive time (and drive effort).
I won’t go into too many details. Since it was my first time there I allotted myself extra $$ to enjoy the day, and treated myself to two sessions; first, a Deep Tissue Massage, a little...read full review
Attending the 9-month intensive program at this massage school was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. From the very first day, I felt welcomed into a community that was both supportive and inspiring. The program was fast-paced in the best way—every week brought something new, exciting, and deeply engaging.
The instructors were passionate, knowledgeable, and genuinely cared about helping each of us grow, both as massage therapists and as people. They made complex techniques approachable, while also encouraging us to push ourselves and discover our own unique strengths. I loved how every class was hands-on and interactive, which kept the learning process...read full review
IPSB is an excellent massage school for anyone who wants longevity, as well as classes that integrate both the body and the mind. They don’t just teach the same old massage techniques that lead to burnout. There’s actually rhyme and reason behind what they teach, and so far it’s been advancing me in my massage career. I’m licensed and have been working now for almost 2 years and still feel great. The body mechanics they teach are solid and effective. The teachers and directors here know their stuff, are very kind, and you actually feel included in classes. Overall, I highly recommend this school and am so glad I got to learn here. :)
