I had to make a trip down here to Santa Cruz to clear out my family home after their passing. I didn’t expect to feel so overcome by grief and all of the heavy emotions that go with handling the belongings of those I’ve loved and lost. On a whim, I decided to look up a place to get a massage in hopes of releasing some of my tension, resetting my emotions and allowing me 80 minutes to just be with my thoughts and focus on self care.When I first walked in to Essentia, I felt at home. I have had an injured shoulder for about 4 months. I’m a nurse so I know what the therapies/ medical treatments are. I’ve tried everything. I went to see Hillary for a medical massage. On our second session she spent an hour digging into my right bicep (I requested this as it felt divine once she found the spot). It sounds absolutely crazy, but the rest of my body is all good. Today was the first day I woke up and my shoulder was not stuck arched forward and it actually felt good. The first relief in months. I am truly excited I found an awesome massage therapist, highly recommended. Can’t wait to go back. She’s a nurse and yogi too, so totally my people.

I've had chronic soft tissue pain in my left hip for weeks, which affected my ability to exercise and to sleep. One 80 minute session with Dan and it's 75% better. Fantastic massage.The massage room and table were very nice. No complaints.
