I've come to this location twice, both during pregnancy-Let's start with the good: Pros: 1. The massage is a good, deep tissue full body massage. It is very relaxing. I felt a little sore the next day, but it is hard to find a place that will do deep tissue (especially in the back) while pregnant for a reasonable price. 2. Price is okay. When I went back in April it was $50 for a massage. Then on returning in August it was $60. Some pressure to tip when paying. As I understand it, the price has changed a lot, however that may be a sign of the times and it being more difficult with less people paying for massages as well as Santa Cruz getting more expensive in general. Cons: 1. I nearly didn't return after the first visit because of how uncomfortable the male masseuse made me feel. I love a good deep massage, but he spends way too much time trying to pull my underwear down or asking me to take it off fully, despite me saying no & that I'd like to keep it on. Furthermore, he massages a little too close for comfort. Unfortunately, when I asked for a prenatal massage and a woman told me yes on the phone, I didn't expect to get him both times. By the second time I got better at being direct with asking for what I want, but by no means is it a professional and relaxing environment. Perhaps if you're a female and don't want to deal with such things, request a woman. I am somewhat modest and protective of my body and it takes me a few visits to be comfortable with any massage therapist to remove ALL my clothes. So, it was rather irritating that he couldn't respect that. 2. He'd do other odd things, like whispering in my ear over and over "okay?" Or "better?" Which made me feel more like he didn't know what he was doing beyond asking me to lay on my side. He'd position me in ways that left my arms draped around his body, like I was holding him? That all aside, my least favorite was him pulling open my eyelids to ask me if I was okay.... And then him telling me that I'm very tired...I wasn't tired! I was relaxing while getting a massage! I never keep my eyes open. I didn't like being handled like that in a vulnerable position. So, it's a coin flip going to this place imo. The second star is for benefit of the doubt that there are other massage therapists there that can do a better job than the male. There are some safer and nicer options in the area for the new price of $60 and I'd recommend those over this one.
Must be under new management. Massage was fine but they jacked their rates and then got really weird and pushy about the tip. They insist you pay with Venmo. Walked me into a room with someone else, then a dirty room. Just seems really unprofessional and unwelcoming. Not going back here again.
The best place iv visited. The temperature was perfect, the women who massaged me, coco, was brilliant. She knew all the spots where I was tense and she rubbed em out! I live on the opposite side of town but I will def return to this spot!
