October 2018 I wrote this on A FB review. Not only is my son learning self defense which was the initial reason we signed him up at 5 years old. He’s learning good morals and values. Regardless of your religion this program is great for young kids and I highly recommended it.Today (July 2022), I updated it and felt the need to share. There are so many’s ways this Dojos helped my son. Now 8 and a green belt, karates helped him stay respectful and focused in most aspects of his life. He’s a member of Team Zanshin and actively competing in tournaments recently winning two golds in the jr nationals. This Dojos become part of our family. Zanshin Shotokan Karate has been amazing. Being in law enforcement I know how important it is to teach our children discipline, self confidence and physical fitness. I signed my son up last summer (2021) when he was 7 yrs old and have been extremely happy with his progress. From weekly practice at the dojo to karate tournaments Sensei Rocky has been their every step of the way encouraging everyone. He has a balanced attitude & teaching style that mixes discipline, fun & family. My son has also made many new friends and we’ve had other friends from outside the dojo join. I definitely recommend it for young & old and even first responders.

It’s hard to list all of pros in the review. It’s been almost a year since our 8 year old joined this dojo. Our son isn’t only learning a self defense, he is also learning respect, team work and most of all mental toughness which is hard to teach at home.I’m from Japan and I think karate is all about discipline but Sensei Rocky is a fun and loving person who also teaches his students discipline in a healthy way. If you’re thinking about signing your kids or yourself up for Karate definitely come try Zanshin Shotokan Karate. You’ll see how wonderful this dojo is.
