David Watkins Design

We hired David during COVID for a commercial build out of a boutique fitness studio when the city was still developing its processes and figuring out how to manage approvals. He helped guide our project through that unusually challenging period and was instrumental in navigating the approval process, and ease all the nerves we were feeling at the time.

He brings a strong knowledge of building codes and ADA compliance which feels so tricky in Santa Barbara. We found him to be professional, responsive, and thorough throughout the project. He clearly cares about his clients and is committed to his craft!

David helped me get permits on a Tuff Shed and a patio structure in my back yard. The Tuff She was a nightmare from the City of Santa Barbara as the structure should not have needed a permit due to it's size, but nonetheless the Santa Barbara city gave me nothing but grief in getting this process done. I had a patio structure that my prior land scape architect could not get permitted for an unknown reason. Anyhow, David managed to get both issues cleared up. His help was very appreciated. He does follow up well, but these issues take time and everyone has to be patient. I appreciated David being so patient and following up the way he did.

Mr. Watkins is fantastic. He worked on my project that consisted of 8 Condo Units and 1,400 square feet of office space. Out of all the professionals out there, he was one of the best to work with. He was responsive to my phone calls, was receptive to my ideas, and did great work. I would recommend him without hesitation.
