I got an estimate from this guy 4 years ago but due to a surprise pregnancy decided to hold off on re-doing the floors. So here we are ready to go and I called to ask him if he'd like to submit a bid since he spent the time putting together the original estimate. Instead of calling me back during business hours I get these texts all late in the evening days apart with the ending being the real winner.

We hired Bryan McCue as an expert inspector for a failed floor job done by another contractor. Bryan was very thorough in his inspection and explained to us clearly and fully the errors made by the prior contractor. His report was detailed, comprehensive, and useful to us. Bryan was responsive to our communication and sensitive to our needs in our predicament while maintaining a professional demeanor. We would highly recommend Bryan should you find yourself in the unfortunate situation we are in. Five stars!

Bryan McCue was recommended to us by a friend who had just had him refinish her floors and had a positive experience. Bryan did a great job for us as well. His crew, headed up by Salvatore is extremely polite, professional, and accommodating. Bryan listened to our requests for a different sheen and color than we currently had. He took the extra time and trouble do a sample for us to be sure it was what we had in mind. We had a very specific timeline that we needed to adhere to and through several conversations about how to make this work for both of us, we worked out a schedule and the work was actually done a day early! Having your floors refinished is a very inconvenient and invasive process to go through so it's important to find a team that will listen to your needs and do what they say they will do. That's what Bryan's team did for us.

I was very surprised when I read J M's critical review about the customer service at Craftcare Hardwood Floors. I had been looking for a referral for several months as our floors had finally reached an intolerable degree of abuse. One of my friend's has particularly nice looking floors so I asked her whom she had used and she referred me to Bryan McCue and his team. I had a wonderful experience for the following reasons: 1. Quality of workmanship My floors are beautiful! The team sanded, buffed, repaired and/or put in new wood in areas destroyed by pet stains. They then applied three coats of finish. 2. Price The price was competitive, actually less than I had anticipated, given that my friend had her floors done a number of years ago. They haven't increased their price by much. 3. Customer Service & Professionalism Everyone was friendly, punctual and thoughtful. Bryan visited my home and sent me an email contract. There was a small down payment, then partial payment at the beginning of the job and final payment at the end. Billing was professional and there were no surprises. Foreman Salvador and his assistant (Fernando?) were conscientious and flexible. I sometimes work at home & they accommodated my periodic need for quiet. They also kindly hooked up my washing machine & dryer when they finished. The work was finished within the estimated time and I was given extensive instructions on care and upkeep. Hence, unlike J.M., my experience couldn't have been better.

---------------------- Update ---------------------- After getting an email from merchant I thought it would be fair to add an update: 1. My perspective is that a 3-star review is a decent review. Just to let people know what my grading scale is since maybe some of you don't use the full range of 5 stars. 2. The quality of the actual work done was *very good*, and the price was competitive. I feel that the if one were basing a review based *solely* on price & quality this would be 5 STAR review!! 3. To me, difference between average and exceptional can be quite small... and in my personal opinion is often related to customer care. In construction related areas this is based largely on communication. 4. Other reviews?? Come on Yelpers... Everyone can have a one-time sub-par experience - and the proprietor pointed out to me that there were some exceptional circumstances making it more difficult for him to be communicative. Has anyone else had experience with Craftcare? I feel this would be a great case for some other people to provide perspective if they've had an amazing experience... 5. As per the original post - I would *consider recommending* that others use this merchant, but I would simply recommend taking extra time to make sure that all the details (exact work-dates, etc) are 100% clear at the beginning. ---------------------- Original Review ---------------------- It's difficult to write a balanced review for Craftcare as I feel that there are two primary areas that I want to comment on - and they deserve drastically different ratings - one good & one bad. First the good: The floors themselves turned out great. They removed some difficult stains/discolorations - and the end product was quality (I had some existing floor refinished and some new floor installed). Then the bad: The "overall customer care" experience was really crap. 1) The communication was often unclear or inexact. For example, I asked "should I wait 2 days or 4-7 days to move furniture back in" (there was a discrepancy between two pieces of information they had given me) and the answer was "do what you want". That was a very frustrating answer after you have new floors that you want to treat well. 2) I found 2 very small blemishes in the floor (remember, the floors did turn out quite well) - and asked about them and/or how I should take care of them. I was told "Unfortunately we can't work in a vacuum", which I think its a distinctly unprofessional answer. I was offering to buff them out myself and was asking for advice, not a smart-ass response. 3) Total amount of time - again I think this was a communication issue, but I was told that the process of sanding/refinishing would take a week (after the installation was done). They were there M-F & I expected to be able to start "living" in the house again on the weekend...but nope, the final coat wasn't done on Friday. So I thought "maybe they'll do it Saturday morning"....but no one showed up. Finally I looked in the contract and it said "no working on weekends", which is fine - but if you tell someone that it'll be done during the week & you don't finish - a polite reminder that "we can't work on Saturday, sorry, but you're out of luck and need to stay elsewhere for an extra 3 nights" would be nice. So - I would tentatively say that you could use these guys...but the best-case scenario is if you are *not* trying to minimize the time-taken (e.g. you are doing an empty house)...and even then you'll have to take the initiative to confirm & triple-confirm all of the dates because their estimate of dates seems fairly fluid.
