About King Pang hairdressing
King Pang Hairdressing is a renowned hairdressing establishment that has recently relocated to the Bay Area from Hong Kong. The business is led by a highly skilled and experienced hairstylist, a California State Board of Barbering licensee, who has worked extensively with global hairdressing companies such as TONI&GUY, Vidal Sassoon, and L'Oreal Paris. The salon offers a wide range of services, including hair coloring techniques like ombré and balayage, as well as women's and men's cuts, permanent waves, Japanese straightening, updo and party hair styling, and Japanese hair treatments. The hairstylist is highly sought after, having provided hairstyling services for high-profile clients in concerts, TV commercials, music events, and high-branded fashion shows in Hong Kong and China. They have also worked extensively with high-end fashion magazines such as Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, Elle, and Harper's Bazaar. Clients have consistently praised the salon's professionalism and the quality of work they provide. The hairstylist is known for giving professional advice on the most suitable styles for each client, rather than simply following their initial requests. The salon is known for its expertise in Asian hair types and styles, and clients have reported excellent results, even after previously experiencing damaged hair from other salons. The salon operates by appointment only, with clients required to text or use Venmo for payment. While the location may be slightly difficult to find, as it is hidden on the second floor between buildings, the salon is known for its cleanliness and efficiency, with clients typically in and out within an hour.
I have been getting my hair done at this hairdressing place for over a year now. I highly appreciate their professionalism and the quality of work they provide. They also giving professional advice on what style would suit me best rather than just following whatever I wanted at the first place. Highly recommend.
Overdue review.. since I've been coming to Pang for quite a few years for hair cuts. I always come with inspo pics and tell him what I want and Pang always delivers. At one point my hair was overly damaged from another salon (think bleach, damaged hair and lots of broken strands) and he was honest about how long it would take to trim and grow it back to my waist again. It took several years, but it's back to where it was. All thanks to patience and Pang listening to what I wanted in the end. He's always on-time. I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes if he's wrapping up another client, etc. First part of the appt is going over what I want to achieve. Then hair wash. Cut. Blow dry and style. He's straight to the point and there's no chit chatting. I'm usually out of there within an hour or so. There's no bathroom available, so make sure you get your business done before your appt. If you need to go, there's Starbucks across the street. As for parking, there's plenty of metered parking. But if you're not sure how long you'll be there, there's 2 hour free parking across the street from El Camino. The salon itself is hidden and on the 2nd floor. I believe the stairs was next to Taishoken. If you see Suruki Market, you went to far. He also only takes cash or venmo.
Very skilled and very willing to work together for the style you want. They are very knowledgeable of Asian hair types and styles. Kind of difficult to find because I've never seen the small staircase in between the buildings in downtown San Mateo, but once you know where to go, it's not hard to find at all. They keep the place very clean! They only accept appointments through texting (not calling), so if you're not comfortable with that, definitely think about that. Also they prefer Venmo or cash so keep that in mind as well!
