Jamal is a genius. He studies your hair and senses how it like to be and cuts it so expertly that it styles itself! Plus he's a great guy. I've been to many many stylists over the years, but Jamal's talents stand alone! If it tells you anything, I drive over an hour just so he can cut my hair. Can't say enough about his mad skills!

I have been to a ton of stylists but wanted to try something new. A friend recommended Jamal, I booked an appointment, and I am so happy did (and came all the way to San Marino to do it as well!). Jamal's fantastic, super bright and fun to talk to. Best cut I ever had. And the space itself is super soothing. Mission Street itself feels like a small town(been here before for Pizzanista)...and the salon feels like a very modern extension of the street. Next door to the salon Jamal also has this amazing little curated boutique...amazing pottery, a bunch of beautiful old jewelry, blankets, hats...it wouldn't seem out of place on Melrose or Abbot Kinney. And Jamal and team were just lovely. Definitely worth a drive over(whether on Westside or local).

If you have not been to Missionwell Collective, yet, I highly recommend it. Not only for the beautiful decor and the very special things he has for sale, but to meet Jamal. Besides his gift of cutting/coloring/styling hair, he has a heart of gold and makes you feel so welcome in the Salon. He serves the most delicious tea and makes you feel right at home. Also, I love that he offers different classes and events. I recently went to a bonsai class he had at the shop which was a lot of fun. I love the cut and color he did and I will definitely be back!
