This is biggest for me. No schedules I had to keep, no phones buzzing constantly, no pressure. Just space to read, reflect, nap, or wander. Sometimes doing nothing was the point and I was grateful for that.
About Golden Door Spa and Wellness Retreat
Golden Door is a business that has been described as "heaven on earth" by some visitors. The amenities, food, and classes are said to be fantastic, and many people have had transformative experiences there. The culture between staff and guests is highly rated, making guests feel like they are a part of something special. The experience is a balance of structure and freedom, allowing guests to be in control at times and just enjoy the ride at others. Health and wellness are important at Golden Door, but the underlying theme of being present and living deliberately stays with guests beyond their stay. However, it is worth noting that some people find the focus on fitness and weight loss to be too intense. Overall, Golden Door is a luxurious and memorable experience that is highly recommended.

This is the best vacation/rest/rejuvenation I’ve ever experienced. I’ve stayed at some amazing hotels but I’ve never experienced the luxury of being cared for and nourished this way. Massage each day, herbal wraps, body scrubs, hikes, art, flowers, meditation, community. I met amazing people. It’s the only vacation I want to take.
I was ready to return to my life because I was thoroughly rested and had new habits to take home. I can’t say enough.

Heaven on earth. I wish I could live there. It's absolutely gorgeous, the food is wonderful, the classes interesting and transformative, and I met so many interesting people. I agree with the reviewer who said to take note of the fact that the bad reviews were all from people who never stayed there!
