Rudi Schafer responded immediately to look at what I thought was a simple,
leaky window removal project but turned out to be a nearly complete replacement of a two story garage wall and supporting foundation due to years of secret, termite destruction.
He took one look at the situation and immediately recognized the problem.
He presented the solution with close monitoring from beginning to end. From the design plan, through the permit process, a few changes that needed to be made along the way, and the inspections, everything was handled on time with precision.

Schafer has completed major remodeling projects at both my home and my rental property in the Oakland hills. Their precision and materials selections made my townhouse stand out among all the others in the neighborhood. And their workmanship paid off when I recently sold the property, getting three full-price, all-cash, no contingency offers within 72 hours of listing—with two over $1M.
Schafer recently rebuilt both the upper and lower decks on my house, which is located on a rather steep hillside in the Oakland Hills above Lake Chabot park. This was a complex project involving significant design and engineering work, and requiring scaffolding that was probably close to 60' high. The upper deck is supported by concrete pillars dug deep into the ground. This allowed us to increase the deck size substantially, as well as add pergolas for shade. The lower deck, which is cantilevered, was also fully rebuilt and increased in size as well. The project has added significant living space to the house. The upper deck is now really an extension of our living room and kitchen, which open up onto it via sliding glass doors. The attention to detail on this project was the best I've ever experienced. Rudi from Schafer even had 3D renderings done of the upper deck and designed the lattice work in the pergolas based on the angle of the sun at the brightest day of the year! The carpenters and project manager assigned to the project were highly professional, always showing up on time. Rudi was extremely patient in dealing with the completely dysfunctional city of Oakland permitting process, pushing the city to issue the permits once the delays reached the point of absurdity. For such a large, complex project the execution was remarkably smooth and we couldn't be happier with the way the decks turned out.
