This review is solely based on the lack of professionalism from the owner, Vanessa. Not her ability to do hair. She is incredibly good at what she does but that is where the good, ends. I hope this comes off as constructive criticism because that is exactly what this is. I want to see Vanessa and her salon thrive, so I hope she can use this review to inspire her to conduct her business better. I have referred Vanessa to numerous people and each person has stated that she is extremely difficult to get a hold of and extremely flaky. Quite frankly, I have to agree. When booking with her, I know there is a chance that something will come up and I will be canceled last minute or in my case once, stood up. Communication is non-existent here and that is my ONLY gripe. You simply cannot leave your clients on "read". I understand life happens. She is a mother first and life comes at us unexpectedly, but when you own a business, communication between your customers/clients is vital. Perhaps hiring a part-time assistant to handle her appointments and communication would improve this major inconvenience. Again, I am in no way shape, or form taking away from her talent. She is a wonderful stylist and I am hoping this lack of communication on her part will improve drastically to ensure that I can continue to keep her as my stylist.

This review is for Serena (her Instagram is @colourbyserena). She is the absolute sweetest and detail-oriented stylist I have ever met! My sister found her on Instagram and made an appointment for both of us. We expressed our concerns about wanting to be safe during the pandemic, and she was so accommodating to ensure we felt comfortable being in the salon. She is so detailed with her work, she makes sure every detail is perfect and you leave satisfied. I love that she takes her time and doesn't rush! She is also so sweet and genuine, and I'm so glad we were able to find her! Her work is amazing and I cannot wait to continue to see her! She does amazing work and knows exactly what she's doing. I got a lob haircut and asked for a warm caramel brown balayage and she definitely made my dreams a reality!!! I highly recommend coming to Serena and having her transform your hair

This review is about Vanessa the owner of this place. Vanessa has stood me up 2 TIMES right before my appointment. An hour left to my appointment she texts me and says she has a personal matter that she has to take care of. She does not even try to reschedule or find another time that would work for you. She is super unprofessional and puts her personal matter on top of her clients. VERY RUDE and UNRELIABLE! STAY AWAY from her service. Since she easily leaves you hanging at the very last minute with zero respect to your time and plans!

This is a very long overdue review for the lovely Alma! I've been going to her for going on 2 years now and she has been amazing from the get go. She is so so patient in navigating my extremely temperamental hair and always makes time in the chair fly by. She loves her craft and always prioritizes the integrity of your hair. Book her, you won't regret it!

They are very COVID and protocol safe. First time there was with alma in February for a bit of color. Now 3 times in I'm in full hair color which I love. If you wanna have your hair dyed I commend Alma for color and cut. She's very open to your ideas and with hers and mesh well together. Thank you alma for everything.

Alma is amazing! I've not gotten my hair done from her since September. I got a much needed cut & color. During my visit I was thinking about my hair care since I have been air drying it lately. She walked me through the steps and educated me of exactly what I need to do to care for my hair the right way and with the right products. Last visit, she educated me on how to use the products correctly. Alma wants you to have the best hair and makes sure you don't leave the salon uneducated. I always have a fun time with her and before you know it the magic is done ! Love Alma!

I'm giving it a one star because I booked an appointment with Marissa. she was very unprofessional and had poor customer service. She completely messed up the dates for my appointment and instead of fixing her mistake she just stopped answering me. that's a very poor way to make new clients! lost my service!

This is a long awaited review. I have been going with Serena for a long time. I met her when she worked at first salon in training and she was just the most warm and welcoming person. She is great with making you feel comfortable talking to her. She also is an ethical hair stylist! Meaning that if she knows that your hair can not withstand the bleaching she will let you know and give other suggestions and comes up with a plan on how to reach your goal. The photos attached to this review are different times I got my hair done with her! She also is very compassionate! Serena also gives you advice on how to better care for you hair. I used to work at a swim school so I had to work in a pool and somehow Serena always made it work out! Highly recommend!

I've come to the salon twice during covid and both times were extremely postivie. Let me start off with how nice it is that Collective Beauty & Barber has its own parking lot because a couple other salons and barber shops in the area have difficult parking. The space is really clean and I feel comfortable and safe in the salon. Not only do the stylists and clients wear masks at all times (the last few times I've come everyone had their masks on at all times) they also check your temperature when you come in. The fact that they take all the covid procedures seriously makes my time there enjoyable. They only let a certain amount of people in the salon and they keep a chair empty between stylists and clients to follow social distancing etiquette. I get my hair colored and cut by Alma, but the owner, Vanessa and the other stylists are super friendly and warm. The space doesn't feel Intimidating like other salons. Alma is super easy to talk and funny, she's open to my ideas and also queer friendly, which is important to me. The last two times I've gotten my hair bleached and colored by Alma I was extremely satisfied. Never have I ever gotten my hair done and received so many compliments and attention. Alma dyed my hair this really cool neon green slime color and the color was exceptional. Alma's specialty is unique colors and designs, all clients on her social media page look so cool, and the jobs look professionally done. Color naturally faded well both times. I would recommend going through Alma for a consultation. The color of my gave me all the right amount of attention, so many hair stylists complimented her job too. Highly recommended Alma if you need to look cool in a pinch.
