Awesome! Second time visiting for my pets and they took care of Bertie very quickly (I also came in when there was no one in line so I got lucky with walk in - I was in at 3pm and done before 4pm). Staff was very sweet. It was around what I expected for a ER visit ($400-500). Luckily I have pet insurance through Lemonade so it was able to cover 90%. If you have Lemonade, they’ll be able to take care of claims from this clinic no problem.

I try to be as impartial as possible, I’ve read some previous reviews and I try to see it from both sides, but it’s just really hard to justify how this vet functions.

Pricing wise yes they are extremely expensive and I’ve seen the owners replies to other reviews and although I think their responses are terrible PR wise, I can somewhat see where they are coming from. Expensive area, equipment, staff, sure. I do believe there are cases where this vet does good work. The main issue is the service itself in relation to the price.

I want to believe that all the members of the vet mean well, but I do agree their actions are scammy/predatory.

I called initially and told the symptoms, the receptionist told me yeah that’s easy. Really common and to just bring the animal in and they can tell you right away due to it being so common.

I get there and they tell me we don’t know it could be a bunch of stuff and then say all these tests to do. I ask them what is most important and they say to do the xray. Obviously the consultation fee is kind of stupid, but okay we do it. They come back and they say yeah this tells us nothing new and all we know is that there is liquid inside.

Okay…over 1000 down the drain for what? They then suggest we do the other tests. We decide to do just the liquid test and not to do the blood test as they said it’s just recommended and not required. Another 400+ for that.

I call a couple days later to ask about the color of the liquid so I can understand the issue better and they won’t tell me that information, but the prescription is actually ready and just needs a doctor to read it out to me, but I cant read it myself. Okay…sure…they tell me it would be ready the same day. Nope. I call the next day. “We’ll leave a note” okay fine. “Couldn’t get to it, but it’ll be ready tomorrow morning and you can pick it up whenever”. Cool. I go to the vet and they say “it’s actually not ready, someone needs to write it up, but it’ll be ready by 5. “ annoying but okay. Get a call later that day where they said, “actually we won’t give it to you, you need to do the blood test, it’s required now.” … like what?

Like I really want to be understanding, but I feel like you NEED to see it from my point of view. This is the same model as real life scams that try to wring as much money from people as possible. Even before they told us they wouldn’t give our report, we already decided we wouldn’t come back just because of high pricing, but there was no bad blood, but after that I felt forced to write a review.

Edit: (with owner reply) I understand that you can recommend certain actions and I welcome professional opinion. But at the end of the day it should be our decision on how we proceed with our pet. We paid you to provide us with a diagnosis and you won’t deliver on that. Not providing the prescription is one thing, but also refusing to let us see or explain the report that we paid for is another thing.

Additionally you really have to get your front desk and doctors on the same page. When I am told all these “false” things I then have expectations. When I am then told later that none of it is true, it leaves a sour taste. If I am told over the phone that it is almost guaranteed to be this disease (very low chance of it being anything else due to all these factors) and that I can do a blood test but it would be unnecessary, then that’s my expectation. Coming back later and saying “the doctor refuse to provide it anymore” because there is some arbitrary chance of it not being received well is misleading. So my experience just ends up feeling like they care more about meeting certain money quotas rather than my pets wellbeing.

The facility is nice and the staff is kind - but they charged me 10X the price for standard medication ($340 dollars for $15 worth of gabapentin). Way inflated xray and visit costs compared to my normal vet. They have predatory and unethical billing practices - I will never set foot in there again.

Remove emergency from your name if you don’t have doctors until 10am. That’s not an emergency clinic.

I took in my cat recently because of a large mass growing on the side of her jaw. I paid extra to have her seen sooner, but it was definitely worth it. The staff were super friendly, and very clear on the treatment plan and the costs. Thank you Dr. Kong and all of the staff for a great experience!

Update: the oldest dog passed at the glorious age of 19 and I can't thank Dr Solomon, Dr Amber, Marguerita and the rest of the staff for their care of both him and me! Thank you, Archvet team!
