Not to mention the expensive tax filing fees here, I made a mistake when I filled out the tax return form last year. When I made an appointment, I always came to Heren as an excuse to be busy with other people’s affairs. .The problem that shouldn't have arisen still made me pay more for taxes and fees.

Thanks to this firm, we have to pay back taxes to the tune of thousands of dollars extra. When I reached out to them via email and phone about this, they never got back to me. How incredibly irresponsible and disrespectful! I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone.

I've been coming here for years because my accountant, Denise, appeared to be sharp and knowledgeable during our past interactions. However, she is not the type of accountant that will provide much tax saving advice or inform accounting rule changes unless you proactively bring up pointed questions for discussion. This year, I went through the same drill organizing and dropping off all my tax support documents at the office. When I came back the second time to pay and pick up my docs, I realized that one of my side income wasn't properly captured anywhere so I brought it up to staff and Denise. I understand mistake happens, so I didn't give anyone any hard time although an hour of my time was wasted. When I came back later to pick up my "final" copy of tax return, I was hit with an additional $35 apparently according to an elderly staff, I didn't provide the support of side income during my initial visit. I clarified that the tax support was attached with everything else so I didn't agree to an additional charge, but it was the last straw when the staff insisted that Denise couldn't be wrong because "she is very sensitive to these stuff, and she made a mark on each support doc as she input". I'm sorry, mam, but I'm an auditor myself and I'm also very sensitive to these stuff. This is why I caught the omission of side income in the first place. The fact that this firm wasted client's time, didn't own up its mistake, and tried their best to squeeze the last drip of profit in a condescending manner without providing much value didn't leave a very good taste in my mouth. I honestly and calmly shared with the staff that I won't return for tax filing next year.A lot of people choose to go to tax firms as opposed to filing taxes themselves because they are lazy (let's be honest here) and want to depend on someone for maximum tax savings and accurate tax filings. If I have to research tax matters and carefully examine your work myself each time, I'm pretty much paying for an overpriced data entry service here.
