I scheduled an appraisal appointment with Watson & Son and notified them ahead of time that I was running slightly behind after driving an hour and a half to get there. Unfortunately, they were inflexible with my schedule and unable to accommodate even a brief delay. I was only about ten minutes outside of my appointment window, but they did not offer any reasonable solution or willingness to work with me after the long drive.
Given the nature of their business and the importance of customer service, I expected a bit more understanding and flexibility. My experience was disappointing, and I ultimately chose to look elsewhere for appraisal services.

Mark Watson was amazing! I was working with a family after their mother had passed. She had a beautiful collection and we needed all of it appraised so it could be passed on to the siblings equitably. Mark painstakingly studied each piece, gave us a fair market value and documented absolutely everything. What was expected to be a contentious duel amongst the siblings ended up being so straightforward and easy because of his expertise, professionalism and documentation of everything. I think the siblings were shocked it went so well. 5 stars isn't enough! He is so knowledgeable and easy to work with. I recommend him without hesitation!

Old rude man vibes. Visited to get help but wasn't happy with service. Go somewhere else where they aren't condescending in tone. Maybe it's cultural but it's 2024, get with the having manners energy.

What a great experience! Mark is true professional. He appraised 3 family heirlooms for my husband and me. The process was fascinating and far more detailed than I had imagined. Mark gave us images, documents, details, and all we could need for insurance purposes. We intend to return with more pieces, including some old family watches. Mark is a pleasure to work with with, astute, and knowledgeable. We also loved his adorable dog, Shackleton. Looking forward to returning and will recommend Mark to family and friends.

Thank you so much to this delightful gentleman! I lost the center diamond in my 1800's engagement ring. He was able to source the perfect replacement diamond immediately (more sparkly than the original!) and get the ring repaired, which was very tricky because it needed the prongs retipped and there is a lot of turquoise near the repair area. My ring looks better than ever and it was a pleasure to do business with someone who has such a passion for their art!

I have a very old Edwardian ring with mine cut diamonds where a few of the stones had come loose. Mark was very professional through the entire process. He photographed the ring and was detailed about the necessary repair. I felt safe leaving my piece with him. I received an electronic quote and within weeks my ring was restored to new! I live out of town and Mark overnighted the ring to me. Thank you Mark!

I had called and spoken to Mark Watson in late October about getting some antique, rather expensive pieces appraised. He seemed very nice on the phone and told me how much it would cost per hour. I realized I had quite a few pieces I wanted appraised and decided to wait until December to start the process. When I called back this week he was unbelievably short and rude with me. I think he was busy due to the Christmas season but still no reason to treat me this way. I could have become a great customer for him, not just getting appraisals but buying jewelry. He really did not want my business or care about me at all. Why would I spend my money there? For any reason?
