A nice place to learn swing dance. The location is also convenient. However, overall the space is small for the number of attendees. Instructions are sometimes vague and incomplete. I took the fundamentals series and it has helped me get started with swing; however, I was only able to follow the class by watching extra instructional videos from YouTube. Overall, I did not feel completely welcome and there seems to be a lack of communication between the teachers and students.

Dance is about dance technique and culture.The culture at Mission Swing has changed since re-opening after Covid. There is a dominant "in crowd" who only dance with each other and mostly say no in a rude way to anybody outside of that group -- even good dancers or out of town teachers. It makes for a negative, not inclusive experience.Having been around a few years myself, I have seen that the consequence is that the level of dance stagnates and the style and technique morph.
