Since giving birth 3 years ago I've been having (actually suffering with) lower back/sciatica pain. On top of that, 4 months ago I felt a strain in my upper back, which I had thought was from weight training, but has been persistent and growing more painful every day. Basically, my back was wrecked. I felt constant tension pulling from my mid-spine to my upper traps and into my shoulder, even while I was sitting. I've been having to painfully roll out and ask my partner to massage the area and work on the pressure points almost every night. Enough time passed where I kind of gave up on it and hoped that if I didn't lift as heavy that it would subside. I was scheduled to have my first acupuncture appointment with Rebecca as apart of my benefits. I honestly didn't expect much going in, I just didn't think putting these skinny little needles into parts of my body would heal the all of the aches, strains, and pain that's going on in my back. Oooooooooh, was I wrong about THAT. She first went deep into my past medical history, she really takes the time to listen and hone in on the details. She then proceeded to press on certain pressure points that were in unison with some systems of traditional chinese acupuncture within my body (I think???) After she evaluated what was "tender" and what parts that she pressed would make those tender spots more at ease, she continued to place the actual needles in. Which to my surprise, didn't really hurt. Then she did a short moxa treatment on my foot and allowed me to sink into myself and relax with the needles in. As soon as she told me to relax, I seriously think I went unconscious because when I opened my eyes she wasn't there anymore lol. I mention this because I am such a hard person to get to relax, falling asleep at home is a struggle for me and falling asleep somewhere else is pretty much impossible. Once we were done I felt absolutely amazing. I honestly felt like I have the ability to use my back again. I haven't felt this normal since before I became a mother, I guess having tiny humans really takes a beating on you. What's even better is that I've felt great for the past 5 days. No tension at all! That is so crazy to me, and has only made me realize (even more) that the power of a true holistic healer is unmatchable. Thank you so much Rebecca. In which she recommends other practitioners such has physical therapists, personal trainers, homeopaths, psychologists, and even holistic dentists.
