From her professionalism, thorough evaluations, follow up, and consideration, everything is five stars. She provides at the highest level and should be seen as the standard of specialized care. My experience at UCSD Dermatology was outstanding, thanks to Dr. Kolar. All too often, patients can feel like just another number—rushed through appointments with lingering questions left unanswered. However, my visit with Dr. Kolar was completely different. He genuinely cares for his patients, creating an environment where I never felt hurried. He took the time to thoroughly address my questions and thoughtfully explain the rationale behind my treatment plan. Dr. Kolar’s expertise and compassionate approach make him an exceptional dermatologist, and I wholeheartedly recommend him.

I'm not sure if it's the office or the Doctor but this place can not keep a schedule. UCSD asks you to arrive for appointments 15 minutes early (why?) and has a strict 5-minute late rule where they reschedule you if you are late (I wasn't but asked about their policy). They need to turn that rule around on themselves. In my last 3 visits to UCSD Dermatology, I showed up early each time and each time they did not grab me from the waiting room until at least 20 minutes after my scheduled time. One of those visits (that I had to walk out on because of other appointments) I was put in the exam room 25 minutes after my scheduled time and told it would be at least 15-20 minutes until the Doctor would see me. Dr. Shi is lovely when she is seeing you (only reason this isn't 1 star) and seems quite competent but the total lack of respect for my schedule is inexcusable. If you have an hour to waste waiting for a 10-minute visit, this is your place. If you like to keep to a schedule, and have your time respected, go elsewhere.
