My 12-year old daughter has been taking lessons with Paul for about a year and is progressing rapidly as a pianist. When we started, she was a gifted "play by ear" student, but he has taught her to read music and to understand theory, which is really helping her advance. Paul has deftly balanced patience with encouragement - challenging her grow, but taking the time to acknowledge frustrations. She loves him! And as a working mom of 3 elementary-aged kids, I have really appreciated his willingness to be flexible with our schedule.
Paul has been an outstanding teacher for me. I learned how to read music as a child but after years of not playing I was very much out of practice and was a beginner at piano. Paul has been very patient, understanding and flexible. He started out without the fundamentals and we have slowly built up to more complex pieces in technique and artistry. I have learned a lot from having Paul as my teacher.
