The traditional bachata Sunday morning class is a workout! The lovely Kavita teaches this class on Sunday Mornings, and man... I did not expect to sweat! I personally love her teaching style, it suits my level. I learned a lot today from her and she was already giving us previews for what's to come for the next class. Out of all the dance teachers I've come across, she is definitely the most passionate when it comes to dancing traditional Bachata, it shows when the music takes over.Kavita is ???!
One of the most accepting, inclusive and diverse place in San Diego! Everyone is welcome irrespective of their size, race, age, gender, sexual orientation , dance levels, etc! It is more a community here than a formal studio setting. People are friendly, instructors are skilled in their techniques, one of the best in their dance background and encourage everyone to add their own flavor to the dance form being taught! There’s a class for everyone here -Hip Hop to Bollywood, Belly dance to heels, Afro dance to Latin dance to name a few! There’s also Yoga and barre classes if you want to tone and tune your body! I have been going to the studio for a year and have grown...read full review
Studio K was the first dance fitness studio I tried out and I have been coming almost on the daily for almost 2 years now. I had no experience with zumba or any other dance fitness classes prior to coming here so I was a bit overwhelmed at first. I remember emailing the owner, Kavita about asking what classes she would recommend to me and she recommended Shako's zumba class for cardio. What was really great about my first class was that everyone was so welcoming and that I saw how diverse the clientele was. I also didn't feel insecure (like most gyms would) and judged at how I looked at all and I was motivated to try out more classes. Since then the studio has added more diverse classes and I'm trying to try them all out! You name it-there's Latin Funk, Bachata, Salsa, West African, Hip hop, Belly dancing, even Kpop (which is one of my faves ) and many more. It's great that the classes are so diverse that you get to learn about different styles and the culture behind it as well. And if choreography's not really your cup of tea, there are other classes that are more fitness type like Barre Fusion, Zumba, Zumba Sentao, Zumba Toning and Yoga. Along with the different classes comes with different instructors, and with each instructor you can see how passionate they are with dancing and teaching their students and it definitely reflects to their students because you'll see how much fun everyone is having. All in all, I 100% recommend Studio K whether you just want to do some cardio dance classes or want to learn about different types of dance/choreography, especially if it's your first time. There's a lot to choose from and you will surely enjoy your time there not just because of the fun classes but also because of the warm and welcoming environment!
