About Alma San Diego Downtown, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel
Kimpton Alma is a stylish hotel located in the heart of downtown San Diego, offering a blend of Mexican and American traditional design. Guests praise the hotel for its clean and spacious rooms, often with beautiful city views from private patios. Upon arrival, visitors are welcomed with a craft Mezcal cocktail, which reflects the hotel's unique brand. The friendly staff, including team members like Rooster, Gabriel, and Angel, provide exceptional customer service, making guests feel at home. While some rooms may be small, they are well-designed, with large bathrooms that add to comfort. The hotel features amenities such as a rooftop pool, bike rentals, and a fitness room on the third floor, which is small but has everything needed for a quick workout. The rooftop pool is nice, though it can be very cold during hot days, and some guests would appreciate a pool heater. Its prime location offers easy access to nearby dining, drinks, and attractions, though some visitors noted that the area outside can feel a bit seedy due to the homeless presence, which is beyond the hotel's control. Overall, Kimpton Alma is considered a hidden gem, perfect for both leisure and business travelers seeking a memorable stay in San Diego.

Because of Tre, I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend staying here!

I later realized this was due to the homeless/junkie population in the area. I felt that the hotel staff did a great job in regards to safety.
I believe Jorge was the one who had checked me in. He went through...read full review
