About SMUD
Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) is a community-owned, not-for-profit electric service that has been providing safe, reliable, and affordable electricity to its customers for over 70 years. The utility is committed to serving its community, as it is part of the community itself. SMUD's customers have reported mixed experiences, with some praising the friendly and helpful customer service agents. Ben's help made all the difference when setting up an account, sorting everything quickly and easily. Brent was a considerate and polite technician who figured out and fixed an electricity problem within no time. Other customers have expressed concerns about high electricity bills. Despite these issues, SMUD continues to strive to fulfill its fundamental promise of delivering quality electric service to the community, being lenient and willing to work with those who can’t always afford to pay. Every operator is always incredibly sweet and efficient, and they really care about their customers.

As a quiet, ordinary morning passed by, I happened to look out the sliding doors to our back porch/patio. There were leaves and branches falling from the enormous tree growing just across our back fence. We had received a notification letter from SMUD that some maintenance work needed to be performed back there. Some branches were growing thickly and depositing dead foliage into the grass below, and branches were beginning to wind up the electric wires. It was on the way to black outs and maintenance fees. Smud is amazing. They're always helpful and always have worked with me when I'm struggling to pay my bill. The customer service experience is by far the best I've ever receive. And I'm 59 years old so that says a lot.
SMUD, Sacramento municipal utility district covers most of the greater Sacramento region including Folsom city to provide electricity. You can pay your utility bill here, have a meeting with the expert in regard to home improvement or energy efficiency. Once a week an open desk is available where you can submit you EAPR application in person or issues in regard to your bill. SMUD website is also user friendly and there are a lot of rebates available for energy efficiency upgrades. SMUD electricity rates are cheaper than PGE but they can be a lot better.
