“Master Yi is extremely knowledgeable and experienced. He has dedicated his life to his craft and sharing it with others, and his passion and qualifications are truly evident. No matter your incoming experience level, I am confident you will find him to be very present, fun, engaging, energetic, encouraging, challenging, professional, and memorably kind. The studio is always clean and in excellent condition. Plenty of parking. Safe area. Could not recommend more!!”

“Been coming here since I was 6 years currently 16 years old with my older brother who’s 6 years apart from me. He is now a 3 dan instructor here and I’m on the road to my third degree. Master Chung is the best master. His teaching makes it easy for others to learn from him. He can show you how to make the best version of yourself. As well as making sure you do your best in everything you do. Highly recommend if you want to learn taekwondo.”

Kaizen Dojo

Kaizen Dojo

“Karate at Kaizen Dojo is lifestyle driven; it isn't just about learning karate moves. Sensei Ford prioritizes mindfulness, building students up from within, mind and body health, self-confidence, happiness, awareness, and resilience.

Both of my children have taken karate lessons at different places. Kaizen stands out, to me, as more traditional. The art of karate is present here; the reveredness of the kata. It reminds me of Daniel San and Mr. Miyagi practicing choreographed karate movements: on the stump on the beach, or in Okinawa, with the scored music behind it. I love watching the kids practice their katas.

Sensei Ford is kind and brings play to each class to keep the kids engaged. They work hard, and, yet, it doesn't occur as such. It's impressive how much my daughter knows, and how much she loves to practice and demonstrate her moves at home.

I'm truly grateful to have Kaizen Dojo and Sensei Ford in our lives. Both have made a lasting and positive impact on myself and my family.”

“Ancient Ways is amazing. My son has trained there for a year, and his discipline (in class) has improved by leaps and bounds. I started training there in August of 25, and it's the first exercise I've enjoyed in years. Chris Colwell and his cadre of blackbelts are fantastic instructors, and the community is welcoming and encouraging.”

“During the pandemic, I was looking for a fun activity that would be good for my health. I was drawn to Pamana Kali because they had online classes and they take a well-rounded approach that includes practical application, art, and culture.

Guro Alvin, the founder, is a patient teacher that emphasizes practical application. He focuses on fine tuning simple techniques that work in live scenarios. He also structures his lesson plan in a way that facilitates neuroplasticity by constantly introducing new motor patterns during the exercises. This makes class a challenge after a long work day, but it's good for the ol' noggin!

Kuya Eli is the instructor at the Long Beach location housed within Kubo LB on Atlantic Ave. The classes are small, which leads to lots of helpful individual attention. We mix it up and practice kali, silat, illustrisimo, and more. Kuya Eli is on the younger side and teaches with enthusiasm and humor, making the learning environment playful as well as challenging.

If you're lookin for a fun and safe environment to learn the art of stick fighting, check out Pamana Kali!”
