I had an appointment at the beginning of November which resulted in needing to schedule surgery. It's been over a month, phone calls to the scheduler haven't been returned. I'm going elsewhere but very irritated I'll have to repay for an exam at a different provider in order to qualify for surgery. Very unprofessional and extremely disappointing.

Doctor James Donovan is an outstanding ophthalmologist. I recently noticed that he is even listed as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor, which is a very prestigious and well deserved honor. Dr. Donovan was my doctor at Eye Physicians of Long Beach for several years. A couple of years ago Dr. Donovan moved to the Rancho Mirage area and went to work at Milauskas Eye Institute. So when I needed cataract surgery, I decided to make the drive to Milauskas Eye Institute in Rancho Mirage to have Dr. Donovan do my surgery. Dr. Donovan is still a fantastic doctor. But in my opinion the Milauska Eye Institute is very poorly run. It has been my experience that the staff doesn't usually answer their phones, so I had to leave messages requesting a return call to schedule an appointment. Sometimes they would call me back in a few days and sometimes they wouldn't call me back at all. Once they cancelled my appointment for a visual field test and they did not call me to let me know my appointment was cancelled. So I drove about 100 miles just to find out my appointment was cancelled. I called their office several times to schedule my cataract surgery and I did not receive a call back from the surgery scheduler. So, the next time I saw Dr. Donovan for my eye exam, I explained to him that I had been unable to get in contact with the surgery scheduler to schedule my cataract surgery. Dr. Donovan said that he would let the surgery scheduler know, so she would be contacting me in a day or two. After waiting a couple of months for a call from the surgery scheduler, I ended up calling the Eye Physicians of Long Beach and scheduling my cataract surgery with them. Just so I am crystal clear, in my opinion, Dr. James Donovan is a 5 Star doctor who is working at a medical practice that appears to me to have a 1 Star staff. It is unfortunate, any medical practice can have great doctors, the finest equipment & facilities and let they are only as good as the weakest link in their organization.

I can not explain to you the utter disappointment I have towards your practice. My injection 08/29/25 by Dr. Carlson was ~10:00am. By 1:00pm, I was in such pain; I called his office & explained what was happening and that I could not open my eye & was in extreme pain. I was rinsing my eye out with distilled water & using ice to help with the pain. I was told the doctor would call me back. No one did. I called again close to 5:00pm and was told the office was closed. It took me over 5 minutes to get the answering service to agree that they were to call the doctor on call. I can't see. My eye is leaking. I am in extreme pain! Dr. Carlson called me back w/i 15 minutes. The fact that this office did nothing after my first call is unconscionable. This is my eye! This was your responsibility to take care of... and do no harm! I have been getting injections for my MD for some years now, and I have never had issues and/or been ignored for a medical emergency. Someone from the office called me the next day about my original call concerning the pain/issue. THE NEXT DAY! The office finally acknowledged my call my plea. The next day! I don't know who did not respond to my original call. I don't even care at this point. It was my eye. My eye! And this office ignored me. I will never return here and will let my insurance company know of your incompetence. This should never have happened. Either the physician are not invested in patient care or the staff is inept at their job/responsibility. Either way, shame on you. Cassandra Czarniecki
