About Sonoma Fit
Sonoma Fit is a gym noted for its modern equipment and clean, uncrowded environment. The staff at the front desk are very nice, and the instructors are described as great, amazing, friendly, and helpful, providing encouragement and enthusiasm that makes attendees want to participate. Reviews highlight a positive experience with specific classes, where participants finish feeling better. However, there are significant criticisms. Membership fees go up consistently, and a yearly service fee is charged, yet maintenance is lacking; things do not get cleaned, fixed, or replaced, including broken soap dispensers. Classes, including popular 5 am sessions, are sometimes canceled if attendance is low, which frustrates members who pay a monthly rate. This practice seems to cut instructor pay and hours, leading to a loss of early classes and a sense the Petaluma location is not being committed to. Some members feel other gyms in town are now more competitive. Despite the excellent staff and new machines, these operational issues are a drawback.
First of all, the staff at the front desk are very nice, and I cannot express enough how great of an experience I’ve had with the instructors. Unfortunately, the membership fees go up and up, plus a “yearly service fee” and yet nothing gets cleaned or fixed or replaced. And they cancel classes if not enough people attend, which would make sense if you paid an entry fee per class, but since your access to classes is based upon your monthly rate, whether I attend a class or not should not change how much money the business gets. The gym is empty and the machines are new.
I just wish there was a hip thrust machine.
Overall the gym is 5 stars.
The staff Polo is amazing, very friendly and always very helpful.
Appreciation comment for Casey Longaker, coach/trainer at Sonoma Fit, Petaluma. Casey always has a smile to share and ask you how things are going for the day of his Mobility and Balances classes. He challenged me and provided encouragement which enabled me to finish each class feeling better. His enthusiasm for fitness made all attendees want to participate in his instructions.
