“My stylist of 15 years moved, and I decided to go gray and grew my hair for 3 years. It was below my waist, and I was ready for a change. With the help of the internet, I reviewed MANY bios and decided to try Elyse. We spoke on the phone, and I got a reassuring and no pressure vibe from her.

At our first appointment she could sense my reluctance at cutting too much at one time. I relayed what I wanted and how I will spend only a limited amount of time on styling my hair, so please keep this in mind. She offered suggestions and said it would probably be best for me to reduce the length over multiple sessions. I agreed.

During the first cut she took off a few inches and gave me some shaping and said “go home and live with it.” I was happy and confident in her ability. I returned about two months later and said, “let’s take off a bit more and do more shaping.” On my third visit I asked for “more, more, more plus shaping.” All along I got the feeling Elyse knew this would be my response, but she never pushed me to do more than I was comfortable with in a session. I am now more open to experimentation and more styling because I know when I walk out of the salon my hair looks great and I feel good. She has a calming demeanor, and the salon echoes this trait as it is very clean with a tranquil décor.

I highly recommend Elyse for her skill, but even more for being a good listener and creating an enjoyable experience each time I visit.“

“Charlotte is amazing!!! When I tell you it is the most relaxing experience I am not kidding. From the moment you walk into Pearl Essence you are welcomed and charlotte takes you back lets you get comfortable (on a heated bed) and then starts the facial. When you leave you will feel relaxed and rejuvenated.“

“I was delighted to find Aliena at the Moon Room locations both in Petaluma and Sonoma. It is difficult to find a hair stylist who makes me feel seen and can work intuitively with my particular style, flowing with my genderqueer fluidity and giving me a look that works with my straight on top, curly on the bottom thick-ass hair.

Aside from total care and expertly cut hair, Aliena is one of the kindest people I have met and it is a pleasure to be in her chair.

“I have gone here 4 times now. First 3 times were excellent, very happy with my service as they kept my shape exactly how I like it and just did a clean up. Most recent time, my stylist threaded my eyebrows much thinner than I have had in years. Very disappointing as it took so long to get them to this point. I will say, she did an excellent job getting my lighter blonde hairs (which are often missed) but just over did it on the shaping.

This was an isolated incident compared to my first few times and I may consider going back in the future, but will trial going elsewhere for now.“

“I'm really surprised I haven't done a review for Sassee yet. I've been going here to see Tara for many years now. I go here specifically for Tara, she's amazing and does a great job dying my ginger hair any color I want from brown to pink. If you don't know dying or bleaching red hair can be a real nightmare and I've had many stylists mess it up or charge me hundreds for no change at all. Tara always gets my hair the exact color and style I ask for and is always honest with me about the process. The salon is quite lovely. Has a very boutique vibe. They have a little snack, bar and drink bar for everyone. Everyone who rents a spot or works there seems very friendly and professional. There's usually always parking right in front or across the street. It is downtown Cotati, though, so depending on events, the parking can be a little rough, but I've never had an issue.“
