The second time, I wanted to appraise two other Persian carpets that I was planning to sell. When I started to explain what I wanted to do on the phone, the owner interrupted me to say that they were not interested in buying. I explained that I just wanted an opinion on the value of the carpets. He offered an oral appraisal at $25 per carpet, to which I acquiesced. I sent two area rugs to be cleaned. They were filthy and I expected to pay a lot. I have no complaint with the cleaning of the rugs. I also wanted the fringe removed. I was persuaded to also redo the edging on the sides of each rug. I am very dissatisfied with that part of the job. The binding is not very substantial and there are ragged threads hanging over it. The old binding had some heft, this does not. There is essential no barrier between the edge and the pattern of the rug. When I tried to discuss my concerns with the hitherto nice men who delivered the rugs, the senior became hostile and told me I was wrong.
