I was truly impressed with Kaiser's Labor & Delivery staff at Kaiser Oakland. My first grand baby delivered at Kaiser Oakland with my oldest daughter was a nightmare. The Labor staff pushed for a C-section while her birth pathway was too narrow for a catheter after receiving a highly concentrated IV mix of fentanyl for the mom and baby. They almost coded in surgery but thanks to prayer and a seasoned surgical nurse and obstetrician correcting the dosage. However, my youngest daughter who delivered C-section-free had a great experience. The midwife-nurse, Auntie Violet, was experienced and insisted she was ready to deliver. Pickpocketed in the elevator. Spoke w security about adding signage. Completely dismissed. Not their problem apparently. So disappointing to go to the hospital to visit family and come out without your wallet. Ugh
Nothing bad to say about Kaiser. They saved my life at least once. The doctors and services here are the best which is why I chose a medical center so far from home. I trust them. Kaiser pretty much owns this whole neighborhood in Oakland. Blocks around 3600/ER are filled with various Kaiser hospitals and buildings. I was born in a Kaiser, may die in one, too. I hope not but who knows.
