In 2015, she launched Icarian Photography, specializing in documenting genuine connections and relationships. At around 30 weeks pregnant I started frantically searching for a newborn photographer in the Bay Area. I stumbled upon Icarian Photography and quickly fell in love with Melissa’s beautiful photography style and the idea of having photos taken while still in the hospital to truly capture the magic of those first few days with our brand new baby. I truly can’t say enough good things about Melissa. She is so flexible, kind, funny, and shooting with her was honestly like having an old friend there. It was such a beautiful experience and the photos themselves are truly stunning beyond words. If you are at all on the fence please please book the shoot. Choosing Melissa as our newborn photographer was the best decision as I cannot say enough wonderful things about my experience in working with her. Initially we had planned a Fresh 48 session at the hospital, but I was too tired to think about photos after a long labor and delivery. Melissa was kind enough to switch to a newborn session at our home the following week instead, which I am so grateful for. At the start of our session, my family and I were nervous and didn't know what to do. Melissa's warmth and bubbly personality put us all at ease. She also showed such a high level of expertise and patience at her craft. She knew how to handle and pose both the baby and the adults, and her guidance led to capturing beautiful, timeless images of our growing family that I will treasure forever. Melissa also went above-and-beyond with her sweet gifts at the end of the photo session. Her thoughtfulness is just another example of how much she listens to and cares about her clients.
