Writing this a couple of years after last going to Dr Kong. But I am going back next week and will write a considered update then. Our (British) family had a great experience in London with an expert in traditional Chinese medicine, who 'cured' our then small daughter's extreme eczema. So I came here more recently with high hopes and was not disappointed. My high blood pressure, arthritis and macular degeneration are all developing a-pace. It will be interesting to see what the doctor makes of it all. If just one of these conditions shows any signs of improvement after treatments I will be very happy!

In the week after my first visit for a hyperactive thyroid (Graves' disease) and nodules on my thyroid, my symptoms (heart palpitations, fast pulse, trembling hands, etc.) went away! The Kongs explained that the body has to be rebalanced and stay rebalanced so I went weekly for a few months until they felt I was healthy (and my blood tests confirmed that). They also recommended I start chi gong to maintain the balance. I've done regular blood work to ensure the hyperthyroidism doesn't return and it hasn't and it's been almost 25 years. Oh, and when I returned to the surgeon to have the nodules examined (to make sure they hadn't grown or become malignant), they were gone! The surgeon was shocked and wanted to know the names of the Chinese herbs I'd taken with my acupuncture treatments.

Dr. Lam Kong is a master acupuncturist who has trained and mentored some of the best practitioners in the Bay Area and beyond. I have been an occasional patient since the late 1970's when I lived in SF. Amazingly, he is still practicing in Oakland. I recently broke my elbow and am seeing him again to help promote healing and for relief of nerve pain. I'm happy to say that after only 2 treatments and some Chinese herbs, I'm starting to feel relief from the nerve pain. And I'm hoping that my recovery time will shorten as I regain use of my arm. There are many good Acupuncturists in the Bay Area, but I believe that Lam Kong stands heads and shoulders above the rest.
