I was having a discussion with one of my clients when Wendy's name came up. She came highly recommend as an expert on Women's issues. This piqued my curiosity since over the years I had been having a lot of health issues. Not all at once but gradually over time until one day you just feel like your trapped in a 100 year old body. I was afraid it might be early menopause since it just seemed like I wasn't myself anymore. Lately I had been feeling - dog tired - trouble focusing - COLD all the time (even in the summer in Cali) - lots of body aches (felt like I was falling apart) - still losing my eyebrows and my hair is not a thick as it use to be I have hypothyroidism and was diagnosed 16 years ago. I have been on medication ever since, but it certainly wasn't treating the cold symptoms that were getting worse. I was wearing sweaters in the summer because I got cold so easily. At the first appt, Wendy did a very thorough background investigation. We spoke for a full hour! I'm so use to 10-15 min appts that a full hour felt like forever. Unbelievable how much history we covered in an hour (but I also had a list of my symptoms because I wanted to make sure we covered them all). She asked a lot of questions and took a lot of notes. She felt like I may have Hashimoto's and wanted to do some testing to confirm or rule it out. She also ran a lot of other test after telling me about each one and why she wanted to run it. Turns out she was right on the money. I wasn't in pre-menopause. Thank goodness but I did test way out of range for thyroid antibodies which indicates Hashimotos. She gave me some great resource to read more about it if I was interested and she put me on T3 which has made a MASSIVE difference. My energy is back, I'm no longer freezing all the time (and I was actually able to wear summer cloths this past summer), body aches have diminished (along with not eating anymore gluten which is a trigger for a lot of people with Hashimotos). Not sure the hair will come back but if it just stops thinning that would be nice. I went from feeling like I was trapped in a 100 year old, to feeling like myself again. I really didn't expect all the issues were from the same disease. I just thought my body was breaking down and much faster then I should have and everything was going wrong. Thanks so much to Wendy for listening and for running tests that take a deeper dive to find the root cause. I don't like to think about where I would be without her knowledge and experience (I would still be a wreck). And also a special thanks to Michelle (office manager) who is always so warm, friendly and on the ball.
