Phil was lovely - showed up on when he said he would, made friends with my dog, gave me the cleanest fireplace I've ever seen, and left the surrounding white bricks clean as well too. He also gave me practical advice on how to effectively use and better maintain my fireplace and how I could do some small maintenance myself if I wanted to. Phil was prompt and really cleaned our lined chimney thoroughly, reaching the screened flue cap. No need to remove rugs etc.; his equipment completed contains soot and ash so that none escaped into the living room. Who knows how long it had been since our 1928 house had had a chimney sweeping but the flue and woodburning stove were left looking like new. I purchase my house 10 years yearly and had never used my beautiful two sided brick fireplace so I wasn't sure exactly what kind of shape it was in. I left a voicemail for Napa Valley Chimney Sweepers and got a call back the following day. Phil came out about a week later for my service request for an inspection and cleaning. He was polite and worked quickly. Phil completely covered the area so no soot came out (I was warned by other friends that the cleaning might make a mess, but no, not in my case). In about an hour the job was done. Phil showed me how to best use the fireplace and gave me a couple of recommendations like raising my grate higher so the smoke would easily go up the shoot. I now feel comfortable using my fireplace and look forward to it with the holidays coming!
