Josh is the best barber I have ever had, period. There is really nothing more to say. He is the man and a true professional. Excellent skill and attention to detail. So happy to have finally found a barber I am excited about after years of issues with other barbers in marin. Plus, Josh is a super cool guy and fun to talk with.
Josh is officially the best barber in town. I was taking my son into the city after we moved to mill valley but the commute was too much. After taking a recommendation from another kid's mom at school pick up, we decided to give Josh. Wow oh wow did he not disappoint. Efficient, cool and talented... thanks Josh! Also the salon location is awesome. Tons of parking, great vibe and he works with a bunch of women at Mill Valley's number 1 rated salon. So it's a really fun and dynamic experience.
Josh is an awesome barber, which is why I have waited so long to write this review - because he's one of those guys you selfishly want to keep a secret. However, he's been taking care of me for years, and I owe him some serious props, so here goes nothing: I found Josh many years ago when he was working at a barber shop in Downtown Mill Valley. I had been jumping around from barber to barber, salon to salon, for about 3-4 months after moving back from San Francisco and wanting someone local. It was a hard task because the city spoiled me. I wanted a real barbershop cut, maybe a drink, some good laughs, someone who knows their way around a straight razor for beards, etc. Everything I found would check off one or two of the boxes, but never all of them - until I met Josh. From day one he has always been super professional, takes his career seriously, and cuts with pride. He makes me laugh every time I see him. I always get a full cut with beard trim which includes a high and tight, a hot towel wrap, a straight razor lineup (for bead and back of neck), and styling with product at the end. He's jumped from shop to shop over the years and I keep following him wherever he goes. Super proud of the guy too - he and his wife just had their first baby boy. I know how hard it can be to keep appointments and life going for the first couple of years. We've had 1 or 2 same-day cancels, but he always finds a solution to reset the time. A few tips I've learned: Book online with him vs. text or call, and always set up the next appointment with him before leaving - because he books up fast.
