Dry rot had compromised some of the wood structure holding up the façade, and Alex and his crew came up with an ingenious solution to support the wall before completing the stucco work. “I had CBC do 2 projects for me. The first was framing a standalone studio/in-law unit. Years later, the second was a large new home build (5,200sq.ft.). For the 1st project, their bid was competitive but I mainly hired them for 2 reasons: they seemed like people who I could work with if situations came up, and they also came across as very experienced and knowledgeable (confident). The project went great (on time, met expectations) and the quality was definitely a cut above others. I had done some remodeling myself, and also worked for contractors when I was younger, so I am able to see when corners are cut. CBC did none of that. It really did feel like they were building it for themselves. That made me decide to hire them for the new home build, obviously a magnitude more complex that the studio/in-law unit. I had the same experience here. They built the home with top-quality, were easy to work with through changes/problems, and finished in the timeframe expected other than a few week delay due to heavy rains. One aspect that I appreciated was the subcontractors which CBC used. I would say that 80% were excellent, and the other 20% were real good. None were average or lower. I specifically thought that the foundation, roofing, and HVAC subcontractors were the top of the top, I could not imagine anyone doing the work any better. On an ending note, I’ll say that within a year before/after our home build project, there were 4 other new-build/remodel projects going on my street for some reason. Two of those went into lawsuit issues between the owners and builder. With CBC, I knew that this was not a possibility, I could sleep at night not worrying about nightmare scenarios. I can't vouch for these guys any more than I have, they are the best.“

“Stop scrolling and call Nisan ASAP for any foundation needs!!! I was accepted into the CRMP's residential seismic retrofit program and started looking for Earthquake Brace and Bolt (EBB) program contractors. I had 8 companies come out for bids. Some never showed up, others showed up late despite them setting the appointment time and date... imagine the frustration! Then came Nisan! He is no non-sense and honest. He won't waste your time! Out of all the contractors, he was the only one that went over the EBB requirements and proposed work, and was honest about another issue with my foundation. Imagine my surprise when all the other contractors ignored a pretty significant issue that needed to be addressed. His bid was very competitive and he took care of everything!!! Other contractors wanted me to pull the city permits for them, and deal with inspections and uploading pictures and documents onto the EBB portal, but not Nisan! He handled everything, was on time, and very professional! You won't be disappointed!“

“We interviewed about seven contractors last year and chose Popescu Construction for our remodel because they seemed to be the most responsive and were definitely the most professional. We were not disappointed. Marius and his team did a great job renovating our bathrooms, dining room, kitchen and part of our living room all before we moved in to our town home. The quote was a one the higher ones but in the end there was wasn't much creep to the quoted price. Which to us means he probably did a pretty honest job with his statement of work and the proposed cost. Oh, his proposal of the ones we received back was easily the most detailed as well.

Expecting good craftsmanship and a timely project completion should be a given but is often not. Marius and team delivered there even with some curve balls (we ended up doing more than initially intended) we threw their way. Marius was able to manage all balls in the air and still manage to complete the project within an acceptable timeline. You can't always plan on vendors having sourcing issues on materials. Or having damaged or wrong delivered fixtures or appliances and other random setbacks. But they managed to deal with and remediate all the issues and keep our project moving forward.

What we really appreciated was their professionalism, communication and responsiveness. He kept us updated on any project needs or timeline updates.Their ability to manage the project, warn and educate us on potential issues and provide solutions or remediations quickly. What can I say? They were great and if I ever had to do this again, we'd hire him again. We've passed his contact to a few friends and acquaintances already.

Now, whether he'd do work for us again? That would be another story...
