I stayed at Vista Del Mar from September 1992 to June 1994. Vista saved my life and changed the course of my life from hopelessness to potential and purpose. The staff were supportive, performing their difficult job with empathy, understanding and encouragement. They were role models and big brothers and big sisters. As with anything, I excelled when I was in a good place in life, and it took gentle and patient guidance to get me to that point. The camaraderie with and support from other residents was invaluable and also life changing. We grew together through challenges and obstacles that we overcame together. I was never alone in Vista. And so, I highly recommend Vista as a place of recovery, reorientation and rejuvenation. It is a second chance to become the person you hope to become. Even now, 30 years after I graduated, Vista still holds a very special place in my heart.
The facilities are A rate and staff are welcoming. Foster Youth here are doing as well as can be expected. Visits here go well. It’s nice to see them smiling at our BBQs.
