What a terrific little tattoo shop. Nested on the edge of Lil Tokyo and East los. The shop is well maintained, organized and hospitable. My artist was Jack, who did an amazing job on my forearm piece. She made sure the design style, placement, and size was to my liking. Worked with efficiency and the results are looking great in my healing process. Thank you jack and kurikara crew for this wonderful tattoo.
I've been looking to get a tattoo for a while now, but I had yet to find a shop that was within my budget, had the subject matter I was looking for, or sometimes both until I came across Kurikara Tattoo. It's in downtown Los Angeles within the Little Tokyo/Arts District neighborhood. So, if you're traveling by train/bus, it'll take about an hour and a half to two hours to get there, maybe more depending on where you are, but it's so worth it. I emailed the shop in November 2023 after an on-and-off search that started in late 2019-early 2020 but had gone to a screeching halt due to COVID-19 and not having a source of income to fund it at the time as tattoos are permanent, but they're also expensive. I was looking to get a tattoo of a hannya mask, a knife, and some sakura blossoms on my shoulder, and I met Jakoh after browsing through his work on Instagram, and he gave off a really nice, laidback vibe when I met him for my consult. He's obviously been doing this for a long time, and I can see why he's booked out. The shop has a quiet yet nice atmosphere to it, and it's not too crowded. I will definitely be back to officially get my tattoo after I finish my year abroad in Korea. If you're looking to get your first tattoo I highly recommend going with Jakoh.
Got my first tattoo from AJ. He was very kind and understanding while walking me through the process. I LOVE the work he did and will definitely be returning if I ever get another one!
