I don't personally have a particularly obvious queer look but I am part of the community and was tired of cis/hetero people cutting my hair and just not quite understanding the ~vibes~. I happened upon Joyce/Queer Haircuts and I'm glad I did! Joyce was delightful and very helpful in discussing what would and wouldn't work with my face. We also discussed potential future cuts when I'm ready to try something more different.
The atmosphere was welcoming and laid back. The prices are comparable. The conversation was great. And there were Blowpops! Great experience overall and would recommend to anyone looking for a solid haircut!
Joyce was so incredibly warm and welcoming when I first came to my appointment a bit late (I got the directions mixed up somehow). I wanted a soft, piece-y pixie cut a la 90s Nia Long and Toni Braxton. Joyce thoroughly went over the notes I sent for the haircut I wanted, they helped me hone down the vision of the look and how it would work with my hair type and absolutely nailed it! The level of artistry and painstaking attention to detail that goes into translating a client's concept into a real haircut is honestly so amazing, and Joyce did just that. They are a true credit to their craft!!! Thank you Joyce!
