Stanford Health Care does not maintain a commitment to seeing their established, existing patients. It had been a number of years since my husband's last visit to their Los Altos location, and so SHCA informed him that he would be a considered a "new patient" and that the first available appointment for a primary care physician would be in 6+ months at locations 30+ miles away. So if you get an appointment, it might be great -- but don't expect to ever be able to get another one!

The most horrible insurance place. It turns out that a medical emergency overseas is actually not covered. Highly disappointed. That on top of the long waiting times of course. If you have a choice, don’t!

Plan is benefits Stanford affiliated offices but extremely limited and often times confusing selection of who's considered in network. SHCA member care specialists are wonderful on the phone but there has been discrepancy on many providers I tried to work with. First time using this plan and will not select this plan ever again.
