I’ve been seeing Emory for over the last 3 years for an icy white/platinum service and they have NEVER disappointed. I’m maybe slightly less than 1/4 grey and have chosen to bleach and tone this entire time. I understand how difficult this color is to achieve and it’s not lost on me. I’m constantly blown away, amazed and delighted with the results. Also this salon is a very safe and refreshing space for all humans. For someone who chose a career that requires constant conversation, I can come here and talk or not talk without judgement. 1 million out of 10. Happy to be a client here.
I have fine, wavy hair that I’ve always hated and worn straight. During the pandemic I started wearing it wavy and I still hated it. It took me a long time to decide to see a curl specialist because I wasn’t sure if it would be worth it or make that much difference. My hair is wavy, not really curly.
Emory has been my stylist for a little over a year now and I can’t believe how much the look of my hair, and more importantly, my attitude about my hair has changed.
I don’t bring photos, I just let them do their thing and my hair has never been more low maintenance or this pretty.

I had such a great experience at Black Sheep Salon in Long Beach. Emory, the owner, met with me first for a quick consultation to talk through my hair goals. I booked an appointment about two weeks later and came in for the service.
One thing I immediately appreciated is how intentional the salon is about making people feel comfortable and supported. You can see it throughout the space and in how they show up for their community, which honestly made me feel really good about spending my money there. Everyone was warm and kind, but not in that overly performative customer service way - I immediately felt comfortable.
