There was a "Northern California Clinical Research Center" but now there is one in Southern California too. This new facility is an offshoot of a" multi-therapeutic, pharmaceutical and device Research Center" that originally opened in Sacramento in early 2009. Their Linked-in info page proudly proclaims that this facility is "not under the jurisdiction of any local Hospital or University; (therefore) any central IRB that you or your sponsor chooses can be utilized." ( I think what that means is this place does not need to follow protocols foisted upon its' studies by higher ups in academia.) I am enrolled in one of their clinical research studies and so far--so good. I have learned to make my appointments first thing in the morning, when they open. That way, things don't get back-logged up and you can get in and out of their office quickly. The employees are friendly and appear efficient although it took two pokes in my arm with a butterfly needle to get my blood out today. I am giving SCCRC 5 YELP STARS for quality in clinical studies and research.
