For HVAC Tune-up + All Other Heating/Air Conditioning: A Company You Can Trust that Responds - Fast Cold Iron Mechanical A/C HVAC tune-up 2x/year - reasonably priced My current (and former) home warranty companies offer heating-air conditioning maintenance service ("HVAC tube-up) in the spring and the fall - for a charge for each call of $75 (or $85 depending on which home warranty company) - total $150 to have both done. I called the home warranty company to schedule but: 1-The a/c company assigned to do the service has an "F" rating with Better Business Bureau. (I canceled but still planned to request service using another a/c vendor) 2-For the home warranty HVAC service to be done, I would have had to sign a separate 10+ page contract with "ProCionnect", apparently a subcontractor?" that could have bound me to extra repairs if recommended (of course for more money) and released that company and its service vendors from virtually any liability. Who requires a separate contract from the one I have already with the home warranty company? Even my previous home warranty company - which was bad - has no such thing. Instead, I called Cold Iron Mechanical A/C (Shane) 760-989-0050 asking if he offers this regular maintenance. (He serviced my a/c earlier this year - responded quickly, did thorough work without trying to "up sell," and charged reasonably.) Not only does Cold Air Mechanical do the 2x/year service - but the cost for both spring and fall (a contract for two service calls) is only $35 more than the home warranty company was charging for one service call using less questionable vendors. (Reviews online for home warranty company's a/c vendor complain of shoddy work, asserting a/c system needs (costly) repairs after taking it apart, thereby trapping customers so system can't be restored without those repairs, and other bad experiences. Cold Iron Mechanical (Shane) checked out both the heating and a/c systems, re-set the thermostat, and installed a new filter. (I had the filter - otherwise be extra charge for the part only- same with all the companies.) My assumption was wrong that an a/c company would charge more than the home warranty company that touts HVAC tune-up as an extra plan feature. Plus I was able to use a company/Shane I know to be skilled, professional, honest, responsive, and reasonably priced.
