“I had a really bad shoulder problem after a minor slam on a skateboard (I'm way too old to skate anymore). After months of pain consistently getting worse, I decided to try one last resort before going to a back doctor. Having had good luck with deep tissue massage for another injury in the past, I got on Yelp and found Alexi at Driftwood Body Healing. I started a weekly regimen with her to work out the deep knots that had developed in my upper back. Slowly but surely the tension eased. It probably took 6 months, but I avoided having to go under the knife or resort to pain meds. Over time I cut the massages to every few weeks, and eventually found that my issues were completely solved. Luckily this was prior to covid... I was able to continue to keep my back strong and healthy at home with yoga and regular workouts. I'm happy to see that she is now continuing her practice post-covid. Unfortunately I am now moving up north, so I no longer will be keeping Alexi secret and help spread the word (I was always concerned that too many great reviews would limit the appointment availability! ;-)). Alexi is truly an amazing masseuse, and I highly recommend her for anyone needing some magic hands.“

“"A painting requires a little mystery, some vagueness, and some fantasy. When you always make your meaning perfectly plain you end up boring people." - Edgar Degas "Painting is concerned with all the 10 attributes of sight; which are: Darkness, Light, Solidity and Colour, Form and Position, Distance and Propinquity, Motion and Rest." - Leonardo da Vinci This review is only about the show exhibit of the beautiful paintings by a local artist Ellen Silva, which is until February 28, 2022. It's really a special treat to see beautiful arts hanging on the wall of a local Bamboo Hair + Body. The location is convenient, right off Main Street of down town Half Moon Bay. I love the vibrant colors of her paintings. My photos do not reflect how unbelievable her creativity and her color work of her arts. I highly recommend to come and see her paintings with your own eyes. I appreciate her nature capture in still arts. I feel happy and inspired looking at her beautiful bright colorful paintings. Her creation is unique, special and rare! Her arts, especially those with the hummingbirds inspire me to love, to hope, and to be happy and creative. Her acrylic paintings on canvas, and Fence Chunks from recycled wood, which hang on walls, fences, gates and decks are marvelous! Additional info on shows of Ellen Silva: Check out the Fence Chunk Gallery: and the Commission a Chunk page: Come to check it out in person if you are near by. You will make your eyes super please! And to support a local artist! Perhaps, to get a stylist to do your hair and enjoy the beautiful art work on the wall!“

“Took my mom out for a 70th birthday mini vacation to Half Moon Bay. I asked her what she wanted to do, and she said the only thing she wanted to do is get a foot massage. The first thing I thought was yikes, I bet there are no ‘foot massage’ parlors here and I will have to spend and arm and a leg (possibly an ear) to do a massage at the Ritz. Lo and behold, I found this place.Booking online was easy (have to create an account), and if you have 3+ people, as we did, you need to pay for one of the services up front, which was fine. I know how people cancel all the time, so they are just making sure they are paid for the time they reserved for your service. The place is easy to find, and there is a standalone lot; parking is easy.Upon entry, there is a small reception area, and we were greeted by a lovely young lady whose name I forgot…Samantha….Stephanie? Shout out to her as she was very friendly. Our masseuses were Linda and Cindy (forgot the 3rd person’s name). All did a great job. BTW, this place is HUGE! We came on a Tuesday, but my guess is they get pretty booked on the weekends bc this place had like 4-5 rooms and 10+ beds in each room.I liked that it was clean, staff was very nice and they all had hands of gold.BTW – if you are not familiar with a ‘foot massage’ it’s actually a full body massage with your clothes on, in a communal room. If you prefer a real massage, they do offer it for a little more. Also, although they have a sign on how to tip, I tipped even more bc technically, I am basing my tip off what I WOULD’VE spent at an American spa. I tipped $25 for my 90-min massage which was $70 to begin with. Sure, that’s a high percentage, but given I prob would’ve paid $60 for tip at an American place, $25 didn’t sound bad at all. Was well worth every penny.Would definitely come back here again.“

“Cheryl is a veteran of the business and it shows. I had an excellent full body massage that loosened numerous tight areas around my back and lower neck. It was one of the most relaxing experiences I've had in a while and I highly recommend Cheryl's services to anyone who's booking a self care weekend in half moon bay.“
