This place is SO charming and peaceful. To be honest, this place grew on me. I love it more and more every time I go. At first, I was hesitant because it's small and probably the oldest cemetery in the area but this place seems to be actively getting work done to improve the cemetery since the last owners. The history behind the cemetery gives this place awe and character. I heard it was a hot mess before the new owners bought it. My family member recently passed away and I had no resources or knowledge to plan a funeral with a small budget in mind. They helped tailor my needs to fit within my budget. Also, I have to say the outdoor maintenance staff is amazing, kind and resourceful. Every time I visit, I say hi to them.
So, this is one of the oldest cemeteries in Orange County. It has graves of early Anglo settlers that go back to the 1870s, when this was still Los Angeles County. There's Civil War veteran graves and even a hero KIA grave of John Ogawa, 442 Infantry "Go For Broke". This place has been poorly maintained for at least 20 years or more. The front area is mostly dead grass, dirt and weeds. We'll see how the new owners take care of it.
My parents and my son are buried there. I am very satisfied with the care and the responsiveness of the staff. I have already made arrangements for myself. It is a good idea to make them early enough and not leave the task to your family at the last minute. I recommend Magnolia Memorial Park to anyone in the Orange County area.
