The school is very old. One look at the track and you can see it desperately needs budget. The principal in 2022/2021 was unable to address bullying. In one case a 2nd grader was attacked by 12 kids and the kids told not to do it again but no actual suspension was given. The after school program didn't fare much better as the same kids would be on it. Principal Johanna has since left, so maybe things have changed for the better. Parents took no accountability for their kids and the administration did not want to appear intolerant, so they did nothing except avoid emails and offer lame excuses when confronted in person. Small but mighty!! The dedicated and creative staff work with my students' strengths and challenge them to reach their potential. Additionally being situated in D.C. creates unique learning opportunities not found anywhere else. Instead of just learning about John Lewis, Parkmont took students to meet John Lewis. It's not just a school but a family. So grateful for Parkmont.
