I got cornrows braids here and Shal was such a professional person. She took her time to make sure that the braids looked great and asked if I liked it before she proceeded forward. She’s very gentle when she braids and works efficiently. She’s also a kind person with a beautiful soul. To top it off she is hilarious so I had fun during the process. I called her and immediately was given an appointment. She was amazing thought the entire appointment. She was friendly and chatty so it wasn't awkward. She did my hair in about an hour and I couldn't have been happier. The braids lasted for a whole week and I was complimented by everyone who would walk by. I would highly recommend her.

Well, my long time stylist retired and relocated to Suisun City CA. I made the drive several times to get my hair twisted and/or braided for approximately a year or so. No matter how much, I knew I would love my hair. I hated the long drive from San Jose, especially in bad weather. I finally made the decision to find a more accessible stylist. I love wearing protective styles for natural hair because of low maintenance and ease of care routine. Therefore, my focus was finding a stylist who was professional, knowledgeable, customer service focused with solid skills. Well, to my good fortune ...I found these qualities and more in the owner Shalondra at Kink It Up A Notch Hair Studio located in Fremont (Irvington area). It's important I share how relaxing, private, clean and comfortable the studio is. If, you are a person who might be slightly uncomfortable or shy in a crowded salon setting having others watch you receive a consultation, custom wig installation, weave, braids, twist, etc. This could be your new happy place. Shalondra was pleasant, easy going, positive energy and disposition. She discussed various techniques, hair maintenance and importance of overall healthy hair care. I walked in feeling a little down and under the weather. I walked out with my beautiful faux locs feeling a bit extra, confident and sassy. :-) I've received multiple compliments.
