I've had golden retrievers and golden mixes my entire adult life, but we recently got our first from Dan and Jenny Root. I LOVE all my previous dogs, but I have to say, the puppy we got 2 weeks ago is by far the smartest, calmest puppy I could have imagined. (We waited for that personality shift that happens around 3-5 days for small puppies, and that did not happen.) We got her at 19 weeks as she was returned from a family who couldn't keep her, but she has been absolutely perfect. She comes with me to work and owns our office already. Our pup, Otis, from True2Gold, is smart as a whip. At eight weeks, he learned to sit for broccoli bites in one session. He’s energetic, strong and very active. Gets kennel time in between three meals and is in the process of house training. Likes to chew anything within sight, so buy lots of chew toys. Otis immediately passed the stairs challenge and didn’t need the donut ring for crash protection. He’s a natural on stairs.
Also, take a week off to acclimate your new puppy. Dan does an amazing job preparing the dogs for their new homes. New owners are welcome during the birthing process and weeks afterward for adoption selection. True2Gold helpers also do a great...read full review
