Overall, Royal Foot Spa seems to provide a decent massage experience, with a focus on providing relief for various body pains and aches. Customers appreciate Helen's expertise and the clean, welcoming environment of the establishment.
There is probably some issue with this place as may be the people who work here are not getting paid well. I went for a massage and paid a 20 percent tip during check out and the woman insisted that I pay her a min 33 percent to 35 percent tip which I found was ridiculous. Either you increase the price of the service but you can’t arm twist your customer and demand a certain dollar tip . Hindsight , may be the woman was not getting paid well and hence insisted that she gets the tip that she demanded from me but this place won’t last long if this continues with customers.
When I entered the store, it was dark and cramped, and smelled of old oil and sweat. The massage was 70 RMB for an hour, and they charged me 3 RMB credit card fee. No problem. Staring at my Zelle phone to see how much I entered, I gave 18% and told me there was a service fee of at least 30. I don’t know if it’s 30 US dollars or 30%. I screamed, it was the first time I heard that it was given like this. It is said that massage is one-on-one, but massage is not one-on-one? It's too ugly to eat.
I have been to this spa several times and never had issues but today was a very bad experience. At the front desk it was not the usual owner who I used to meet, but someone else who had a PISSED OFF expression at the first look itself. I requested one hour foot massage and she sternly and rudely said NOO, i could see empty beds and I thought she didn't understand what I meant so I mentioned again, after that for 5 minutes was the most awkwardest reception I have ever experienced. She came very near me and kept staring at my eyes angrily. I politely asked "what's the issue", she just kept throwing her pissed off expression at me which was extremely scary for a customer in that pin drop silence. The way she kept coming close it was a hint for me to get out asap. It was extremely eerie and awkward so I just stepped out because it felt like she would hit me if I didn't. She still walked out with me as I mentioned that atleast say something as to why no, and she just kept staring at me angrily till I got into the car. I have NOOO idea why she behaved so badly to a customer when nothing but "one hour foot massage" was communicated from my side. The owner knows me by face that I have never been rude to them in so many years. I will never visit this spa again. It makes me wonder was it RACIST ? There are many spa folks who don't know English but still manage politely with actions and smile about why it's not possible. There is NO excuse for this behavior. Please train your people for basic welcoming etiquettes that don't require to learn a language
