“We are very pleased with the work Brett and his team completed for us. We purchased a home in Coronado requiring several upgrades. Work completed by Landscape Solutions included removing the existing pergola and concrete patio in our backyard and a lot of ivy in front along the front and side of our home, refreshing all the landscaping (with new drip lines and adding several new plants), and adding a built-in barbeque on the side of our house. Brett listened to our ideas and developed a plan that improved upon our initial draft ideas. The effort was completed within the estimated timeframes (despite our adding scope on a couple of items) and budget We especially appreciated:
• Brett’s knowledge regarding plants, landscaping and hardscaping
• Brett meeting with us at several locations to select various plants and hardscaping options.
• Brett’s knowledge about the ability of plants to survive in various conditions
• The attention to detail by Brett and his crew. Although Brett was very knowledgeable about possible pitfalls with these efforts, his crew members noticed additional items as they were completing their work. Brett (and the crew member) would discuss these matters with us, and we would agree on a path forward.
We are really pleased with all of the work completed by Landscape Solutions. We continue to hire Landscape Solutions for maintenance, and we are planning to hire Brett and his crew for some additional upgrades to our home.“

“We had Chuck and his guys on our 3 acre property for 2 days removing big palm trees. The crews are extremely hardworking and worked out a great system while doing the job to maximize efficiency. They took care to not break anything and clean-up afterwards. Chuck, his daughter, and his team were just a pleasure to work with. Clear about what they could and couldn't do, fair pricing, good communication during the project. Chuck has years of real world experience with trees of all types, and he knows what he is doing.

“We had some hedges that had outgrown their original stakes and were leaning after some wind we had a few weeks ago.
I hired Gilberto to source, install, and tie off my hedges to some 3” diameter wooden stakes. About a dozen hedges just outside my fence.
Gilberto was responsive and fair on the price. He came out about 2 days after we agreed on the costs and he finished the job in an afternoon.
I am very happy with the work he did and my hedges are nice and straight again! I really appreciate his help with the job and will use him again for any landscape work I need done around the house.“

“Better Place revitalized our back yard, turning it into an oasis that visitors have praised and enjoyed. The artificial turf installed in our front and back yard is stunning. The outdoor kitchen is gorgeous and fun. Their communication and follow-up to our questions was impeccable all of the way until the project was completed, and then we didn't hear from them again. They built a cinder block wall enclosure for a jacuzzi we shipped to the home. However, the design did not allow any access to the jacuzzi components. There is a wood deck around the top of the jacuzzi, but no door. I regret not discovering this until after the project was finished and I had signed the paperwork. I turned on the jacuzzi and realized that when it had been installed, something within the components was not working correctly. I sent text messages and e-mails to Better Place, but received no responses. I hired a contractor to build a door so that we (and future owners of our home) can reach the components. But now we have discovered that one of the wooden support beams blocks the door to the components, so it would be impossible to repair or make adjustments to the jacuzzi until I hire another contractor to rework the deck and move the support beam. The project finished in July 2023, but the only part we haven't been able to enjoy is the jacuzzi.

***Update: Better Place contacted me within a day of seeing this review and the owner himself came out to my home to check on the jacuzzi enclosure. Already yesterday the wooden support beam blocking access to the components was removed. Very impressed with the customer service! And we will be able to get our jacuzzi working.“

“San Diego Design and Build are owned by two brothers Oscar and Steve who have done several small to medium sized jobs for me in the past. They are very competitive with their bids and as contractors go, I found them to be very friendly and accommodating individuals. So, when I needed a studio built on my property, I already knew they were the go-to guys. As construction jobs go, they got the job done, very close to deadline date, and made it as painless and problem free as possible. The studio turned out better than I anticipated (thanks to their creative ideas which not only saved me money, but also turned out a better product.). “When we first started looking for companies to do another landscape design and landscape construction we were recommended to Landscape contractor Jeff Wilson of Wilson Woodscape.

We had used another company for a project in the past and just were not satisfied at the end of the it all.

The first time meeting Jeff you will walk away from that conversation with an overall impression that this guy really knows what he is talking about, and he does.

He will ask you questions and present possibilities that you hadn't thought of. Insuring that most all the issue that could come up have been addressed and a plan is in place to address it.

We had a pile of dirt for a front yard and we knew what we wanted.

We had an idea for mid century modern landscapes like you would see in Palm Springs and had done research on it and presented Jeff with what we were looking for.

Once we hired Jeff, his Landscape designer architect and he came out and talked to us for a couple of hours took many measurements and went off and put together a plan and a design, you can see it on his site.

We had a lot going on from stone masonry, walkway landscaping, driveway installation, outdoor step construction, retaining walls, hardscape, outdoor lighting, irrigation installation, custom concert work.

He is always a step ahead. Whatever question that you come up with he has already thought of it and planed it out. So when you come up him with a couple of new ideas after the project has started he is ready for it. He has to be the best landscaping contractor in San Diego, at least I think so and the final product speaks for itself.

The finished product was beyond our expectation. We have people stop in their cars to ask us who did the work and can they get their number. This was happening at least once a week for about 9 months after the project.

Details: We had our backyard completely redone because it was chopped up in small unusable sections and it was just generally a mess. We had three different estimates to do the job and they all came in roughly the same price. So what was the difference? Helena’s vision and communication. She was able to quickly see what our yard could look like and help us see it too.

But while we were impressed with Helena’s creativity, the good vibes didn’t stop there. As the project went on, if there was something we weren’t 100% happy with, Helena was sure to work with us to make it right. The biggest example of this? The pavers that we had purchased ended up coming from two different batches/lots and so when they were installed there was a bit of a color mismatch that wasn’t really visible until after it was all laid out. After a full install of the pavers, we asked Helena about the slight mismatch and she agreed that it could look better. She went to her supplier, fought for us to get new pavers, and reinstalled the pavers all at no cost to us even though most contractors would have argued that it was close enough or thrown their hands up and said sorry, not my fault. She is someone you want in your corner.

As we went through our project, there were a few unexpected hiccups, but nothing major. Each time something would come up though, Helena would suggest multiple solutions, and if we chose a solution that would add some additional cost due to increased labor and materials from what we originally planned, we always felt that Helena was fair and reasonable with her price adjustment. Best of all, it was easy to talk to her if at any point we weren’t satisfied with something or how things were going.

It’s been about six months since our yard was finished and we are so pleased with how it all turned out. Plan to upload before and after pictures later, but don’t currently have them. The transformation was amazing though and me and my family have loved actually using our yard to its fullest potential!“

“Went all over Chula Vista to see if anyone with a forklift would help me unload my rooftent from my SUV. all the shops went to wouldn't do it or wanted to charge me $100.00. I went to South Bay Xeriscape, and right away, Carlos said yes and would not charge me. Just showes how honest and humble Carlos is. Once he did it I ofter to pay him and he wouldn't accept. So much so that we hired them later to do the rear yard also (gravity block wall, raised planter, trees, shrubs, irrigation, raised Trex deck & artificial turf), and that turned out really great also. “One of the most wonderful things that happened to me last year when I came back to SD after 8 years was to find out that at my work campus was a farm and every Monday there is a stand for the employees in Campus Point with vegetables from such farm (The Green Acre restaurant sources from them). I found out that California Farm and Garden (formerly Urban Plantations, that I knew from before I left) was behind the operations. I can only comment on the corporate farm that I have mentioned and all is fantastic. From the super cool young farmer girls and my favorite guy, always teaching us how to compost or what varieties of vegetables they grow with smiles and dedication, to the bounty we get every week. The farm is beautiful and well tended and everyone can have a picnic, see the farmers in action (working in the field) and admire the flowers. We get to take from mini bouquets home too! Had several other guys bid the job, but it was no competition, the only one who explained every detail was Joe, from how many valves were needed to the type of sprinklers I needed, to the best sod available. You can tell that Joe and his crew love what they do! From start to finish these guys were exceptional! Have to give it to Manuel the foreman, this guy is awesome, really payed attention to detail when installing irrigation and sod. They took the time to explain how to adjust sprinklers if needed.
