I worked for Waste Management many years ago so I know how the trash business works. My comment is, I've seen front loader drivers and roll off drivers both do this. When they dump the trash or are swapping out containers, why is it when garbage falls out on the ground, the drivers can't take the extra minutes to pick it up? Instead they leave it and it gets spread from the wind, the animals, sticks and just looks bad. So why can't they pick it up?

In 2022, the recycling policy was that we could leave reasonably sized boxes in front of our bins and the recycling truck will take them. In 2024, we are asked to cut boxes to 2x2 squares, which is ridiculously small, bundle them up with twine, and call in to schedule a pickup. Alternatively, we could just put them in plastic bags and forgo any of that trouble and send them to the landfill. Way to make being environmentally conscious very difficult!

Server just gets worse and worse - first they take our green bin one day - it fell into the truck. They replace it with a bin half the size so of course the yard waste is overflowing - now today they pick up the bin and just throw the branches / yard waste all over the road - and just drive off - 2 cars now have flat tires because of the thorns from the branches. The drivers cant be bothered to get out of their truck for 10 seconds when they mess up. I get garbage collection is a hard job - but some common sense, skill, and not throwing the bins all over the place is simple. If you make a mess clean it up. we need to work with the city of Oakley to change providers...
