This Cemetery is located in San Mateo. It is a Japanese Cemetery consisting of some of the japanese population in the bay area. The cemetery opened in 1901 due to a law change in the area. Most of the cemetery is dedicated to newer burials, however, there is an older section of the cemetery that is mainly older, historical headstones. My great-grandaunt is buried here and I went to visit this cemetery in early February. It is a very beautiful and small cemetery in the heart of Colma!

We laid to rest my mother in law and my husband's mom and children's grandmother. It was so sad but this Japanese Cemetery is so lovely and well kept. Many of my husband's relatives are here and on some of the sculptures are the names of the living who will go there when they pass. After placing her ashes in the little house, we walked the pristine grounds. No one was there but there was a sense of peace and calm. It is such a well-maintained place. Beautiful yet humble.
