“Dr. John Traversi is my gift from God.In July of 2019, I was told by the VCA that my dog may only live 6 to maybe 12 more months; Dr. Traversi gave us 2 years. His level of compassion and patience is completely immeasurable. There were times that I was ready to give up because I felt like a failure, but I will never forget that Dr. T. said to me, “while Simon presents clinically ready for euthanasia, I know in my heart he is not.” He kept Simon alive.When everyone else brushed my dog’s seizures off as “idiopathic epilepsy”, Dr. T. took an extensive amount of time to sit and talk with me, while sitting on the floor giving kisses to my dog, listening to the history of seizures that came out of nowhere. He took notes on when and how they were happening and was able to diagnose a brain lesion with testing. When a trio of anti-convulsants no longer had any effect on the seizures, I became obsessed with Googling his symptoms and reading articles related to dozens of possible treatments that might work, and I would send emails to Dr. Traversi at 1, 2, 3 a.m. because I wasn’t sleeping.It was his recommendation to start a low dose of steroid in hopes that it would reduce the size of the brain lesion, and it worked. It 100% stopped the seizures.Dr. Traversi has been there for us every single time that I needed him; me, I needed him. When Id have doubts about whether or not I was being a good dog mama, he would give me the reassurances I needed to continue fighting to keep my boy alive. When I say that I appreciate Dr. Traversi for everything that he’s done and the time that he’s given us, that is an understatement. I don’t know how to put into words how grateful I am for you, John. I am blessed to have been able to share numerous additional holidays with Simon, as well as trips to the mountains - his happy place.His 14th birthday is September 24th, 2021, just over two weeks from now. Never did I ever think we’d be planning a party, but we are, and that is because of Dr. John Traversi and the entire staff at San Diego Bay Animal Hospital. Shout out to the guys and gals, especially Erika, for fielding all of my emails and phone calls, and prescription refill requests without ever giving me attitude; believe me, I know I deserve one.
